🌿 White Buffalo Sage
Cleansing • Purification • Sacred Smoke Medicine
White Buffalo Sage (also called White Sage) is a sacred plant traditionally used by many Indigenous nations across Turtle Island (North America) for spiritual cleansing, protection, and ceremony. Its smoke is believed to purify energy, clear negativity, and create space for new intentions, healing, and peace. The “White Buffalo” variety is considered especially powerful, named in honour of the rare and sacred white buffalo — a symbol of blessing, renewal, and spiritual connection.
🔮 What It’s Used For
• Energetic cleansing of people, homes, crystals, and sacred tools
• Releasing stagnant or heavy energy after conflict, illness, or emotional stress
• Protective rituals + grounding before meditation, tarot, or spellwork
• Calling in clarity, peace, and spiritual protection
• Resetting a space before moving, deep cleaning, or starting something new
✨ How to Smudge (with intention + respect)
Set your intention.
Before lighting the sage, decide what you’re cleansing — “I release what no longer serves me,” “I welcome in peace and protection,” etc.
Light the bundle.
Use a match, lighter, or candle. Let it catch flame, then gently blow it out so it smolders and releases smoke.
Let the smoke guide you.
Use your hand or a feather to waft the smoke around your body or space. Move slowly, especially around doorways, corners, mirrors, and windows.
Cleansing yourself:
Sweep the smoke from feet → upward to crown. Breathe deeply. Imagine the smoke carrying away what you’re releasing.
Cleansing a space:
Start at the entrance and move clockwise through the room or home.
Finish with gratitude.
When done, press the burning end of the bundle into fire-safe sand, salt, or a ceramic bowl. Thank the plant for its medicine.
🌱 Respect & Responsibility
White Sage is a sacred Indigenous medicine. Use it with reverence, purchase ethically + sustainably sourced bundles, and treat the practice not as a trend — but as an act of intention, respect, and spiritual mindfulness.
